An Eye For Murder (Paperback)

An Eye for Murder — A Chicago Filmmaker Uncovers a Wartime Secret Someone Will Kill to Keep Buried

When single mom and documentary filmmaker Ellie Foreman gets a letter about a stranger’s death, she has no idea it’s about to unravel a secret that started in Nazi-occupied Prague. Ben Sinclair died alone in a Chicago boarding house — but the wartime relics he left behind, and the people suddenly desperate to get their hands on them, tell Ellie he wasn’t as anonymous as he seemed.

Juggling a twelve-year-old daughter, a Senate candidate’s campaign video, and a mystery no one wants solved, Ellie turns to her father, a retired lawyer with deep roots in Chicago’s Jewish community, for answers. What she uncovers reaches from the North Shore’s political present into the buried memories of the city’s ethnic neighborhoods — toward a truth someone will kill to protect.

An Eye for Murder introduces the sharp, funny amateur sleuth who launched Libby Fischer Hellmann’s bestselling Chicago mystery series. A complete standalone, and an Anthony Award nominee for Best First Novel.
